Normally this Johnson grass would be 8 to 10 feet high, bright green, thick as your thumb and impossible to walk though.  We just went from what seemed like the wettest year on record to a desert.   July 22 I started to realized there was a lack of rainfall, by the first week in august we had maybe 1/2 inch of rain.  Then it just kept getting dryer, the ground started splitting, now there are crevasse’s in the soil as wides as your hand in areas.  We are 8 weeks in now with less than an inch of rain.  Hasn’t rain a single drop since half way through August, today Sept 11th.  The river gauge is at 4 feet, it hasn’t been below 4.5 in 3 years at any point.
